"ETHICS IN EDUCATION ACT"

All employees and agents of school district have an obligation and legal responsibility to report misconduct by instructional personnel and school administrators which affects the health, safety, or welfare of a student. This misconduct includes, but is not limited to, obscene language, drug or alcohol use, disparaging comments, prejudice or bigotry, sexual innuendo, cheating, testing violations, physical aggression and accepting or offering favors. Failure to report misconduct may result in penalties up to termination of employment and revocation of an educator's certificate. Eastside Elementary School receives federal monies. We receive Title I, Part A funds to supplement our existing education programs. Community wealth, determined by the number of free and reduced lunches, determine the scale that is used in money appropriation. We also receive Title I, Part C funds to supplement education programs for migrant students.  Title II provides money for professional development.  Title III provides funds to enhance language instruction for ELL students. Our school also receives School Improvement 1003  funds for supplemental software and hardware for students.

Federal Grants Description

School Year 2009-2010

The Hendry County School District receives grant monies from various Federal Grants to supplement educational services within the school system.  These grants are listed below with a brief explanation of the services they provide.  More information regarding the grants may be obtained from Mrs. Jodi Bell, Director of Federal Programs, telephone number: 863-674-4108, or Mr. Gordon Swaggerty, Assistant Superintendent Clewiston area, telephone number:  863-902-4244.

 Title I, Part A:  Serves Grades K-5 and provides supplemental classroom supplies, reading resource teachers, paraprofessionals, computer labs, and technology.

Title I, Part C:  Education of migratory children

Title II, Part A:  Provides professional development for K-12 teachers as well as administrators, and reading coaches at middle and high schools.

Title II, Part B:  Mathematics and science partnerships (PROMISE-professional development dealing with new math and reading standards).

Title III:  Provides supplemental supplies for ELL students Grades K-12 and resource teachers.

Title VI:  Provides supplemental services to support school improvement initiatives in all schools.

School Improvement Initiative Grant:  Provides after school math tutorial and READ 180 lab.
