  • Important Health Information Regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

    February 28, 2020

    Dear Hendry County Families,

Due to increased concern in the community regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), Hendry County School District would like to provide some valuable health information. It is important to note that we are working in conjunction with the Department of Health - Hendry County, the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Currently, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Florida. However, this is a rapidly changing situation that we are monitoring closely. As always, your child’s health and safety is our number one priority.

The FDOH and CDC recommend the following preventive measures:

    • If you are sick, stay home. Students/school staff with a fever should be excluded from school until they are fever-free without medication for 24 hours. Contact your healthcare provider with any questions or concerns.
    • Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
    • Avoid sharing food, drinks, and other personal items with others.

For the most up-to-date on the Coronavirus, please visit the following CDC website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html or the Florida Department of Health website: http://www.floridahealth.gov/diseases-and-conditions/COVID-19/index.html

Thank you for your time and patience in this matter.
