Advancement via Individual Determination (AVID)
AVID's Mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.
AVID Secondary starts with an elective class for one period a day, where students learn organizational and study skills, work on critical thinking and asking probing questions, get academic help from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities that make college seem attainable.for more information please view http://www.avid.org
AVID Students 2018-19
March 20, 201810th- 12th grade students visit Florida International University
AVID in the NEWS
On March 20, 2018; 30 Labelle high school AVID students traveled to Florida International University (FIU) as one of their annual college visits. Students went with the intention of gaining a deeper perspective of these campus culture, academics, and future expectations. What students did not expect during their visit was the history and law program of studies offered at this institution to be robust. Students had no idea that FIU would offer over 190 programs of study. Nor did the students expect to find Florida International University to be a learning institution still on the rise in terms of population (the largest university in South Florida with over 55,000 student enrollment) and course of studies. In case you did not know, AVID students are placed in a rigorous course of study curriculum (AP/ Honors classes) and provided rich and meaningful methods to help these students be college ready learners.
