    AVID in the NEWS

On January 22 2020; 30 Labelle high school AVID students traveled to American Airlines Arena (Home of the Miami Heat Basketball team) as one of  their annual college visits for a college expo. Students went with the intention of gaining a deeper perspective of these campus culture, academics, and future expectations. What students did not expect during their visit was the over 15 different colleges and universities would be in attendance. Also, AVID students had the opportunity to witness their first NBA retirement ceremony. As Dewayne Wade, a long-time Miami heat player was having his jersey number retired to the raffters of the American Airlines arena. In case you did not know, AVID students are placed in a rigorous course of study curriculum (AP/ Honors classes) and provided rich and meaningful methods to help these students be college ready learners.
