The Math Team is part of the National High School Mathematics Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta. It is a common misconception that you have to be really good at math to be on a math team. This is not true as the math team is for anyone. The math team is for students that enjoy collaborating with their peers to develop their problem solving and leadership skills. This chapter does participate in regional, statewide, and nationwide mathematics competitions.
The Math Team does more than just math. Several serve as after school math tutors, while of members enjoy taking part in the American Rocketry Challenge. This challenge provides students the opportunity to develop hands-on experience solving engineering problems as they design, build, and launch their model rockets.
If you're interested in joining or looking for more information, then stop by the Den of Infinity to see Mr. Lee to apply and/or get answers to your questions. The math team meets every other Wednesday after school.
